Production and sales of motorcycles<\/strong><\/p>\n

After years of vigorous development, China\u2019s motorcycle industry reached an inflection point in 2012. Since then, the overall production and sales of motorcycles have shown a declining trend, and the annual production and sales decreased to 15.578 million and 15.571 million respectively in 2018. In 2019, with the gradual implementation of the State IV emission standard and the rapid growth of electric motorcycles, the production and sales of motorcycles in China showed a steady growth trend\u2013the output of motorcycles reached 17.367 million, up 11.5% year-on-year, and the sales reached 17.133 million, up 10% year-on-year (Figure 1).<\/p>\n

In 2019, China\u2019s output of two-wheeled motorcycles was 15.43 million, up 10.5% year-on-year; the sales of two-wheeled motorcycles were 15.194 million, up 8.9% year-on-year. At present, China\u2019s two-wheeled motorcycles are mainly dominated by models with displacements below 125cc, but in recent years, the market of medium-displacement models and large-displacement recreational motorcycles continues to expand, among which the large-displacement motorcycles of 250cc or above have seen a rapid growth (Figure 2).<\/p>\n

Export of Motorcycles<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

China is not only a big country of motorcycle production and sales, but also a big country of motorcycle export. The annual motorcycle export accounts for about half of the annual sales. In 2019, the export value of products from domestic motorcycle manufacturers was $4.804 billion, down 2.76% year-on-year, among them, the complete motorcycle export totaled 7.125 million units, down 2.5% year-on-year and the export value was $4.064 billion, down 2.03% from a year earlier. In the export market of complete motorcycles, the two-wheeled motorcycles accounted for a major proportion. In 2019, the export of two-wheeled motorcycles reached 6.755 million units, down 2.9% year-on-year. (Figure 3-4, Table 1-2)\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n
